Supporting Equity, Inclusion, Diversity and Justice in St Hilda's Moorland Federation
As a Diocese of York school, our Federation believes that Equity, Diversity, and Justice is at the heart of all that we do. As Christians we are charged to “love one another” and treat everyone with dignity and respect. We recognise and celebrate the vast diversity in our Diocese and community knowing that every single one of us is made in God’s image and is unconditionally loved by God.
We aim to create an environment where everyone feels valued, everyone feels included, and everyone feels that they belong. We must be bold and courageous and challenge discrimination and prejudice in all it various forms wherever it occurs.
We do these things not just because they are the right things to do, but with Jesus as our role model, it is what we are charged to do. We do because Jesus did. Diocesan Statement December 2025
Our Federation practises equity of access and equity of opportunity for all its pupils, staff and visitors regardless of; gender, ethnic origin, religious belief, cultural background, ability or disability, marital status or sexuality.
Our school is a place where all members of the community—children, staff, families and visitors—are welcomed, respected, and nurtured. The principles of equity, diversity, inclusion and justice are central to our Vision.
Through our curriculum, collective worship and everyday interactions, we promote fairness, celebrate differences, and actively challenge discrimination, prejudice and stereotypes.
We have a published Equality Policy that you can find HERE.
Your support for your child’s education is crucial to their progress. Please tell us if there is any adjustments we need to make to help you support your child, for example: letters in large font; letters in different languages; wheelchair access; explaining things over the phone; a discussion with a school colleague of the same gender.
You can contact us if you would like information in another language or different format like accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or Braille. We’ll consider your request and get back to you as soon as possible.
